Overview
Amazing Strides is a New Jersey support coordination agency serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their GoDaddy-built website was their main client-acquisition channel, but wasn't pulling its weight.
Problem
The visual design wasn't attractive, the information architecture was unclear, and the site drove very little traffic.
What I did
- Audited existing content and identified UI inconsistencies — mismatched buttons, misaligned text, conflicting colors, and confusing navigation
- Researched nearby nonprofit sites and found opportunities in the founder's personal story and the org's RISE Challenge award
- Built a revised sitemap around three key visitor types — agencies, volunteers, and families — plus a founder video introduction
- Ran two rounds of wireframes, reworking the second after hitting GoDaddy template constraints
- Applied an accessible high-fidelity design in the org's gold/black branding on white backgrounds
- Launched within the platform's constraints and wrote documentation so the client could self-manage updates
Outcome
A restructured, accessible website that leans on the founder's story as a differentiator — shipped in three weeks despite real platform limitations.
