Overview

Soshlly is an iOS app built on a simple premise: a lack of real social connection is hurting people's mental health, and more social connection scientifically improves it. I joined as founding designer to take the concept to a launch-ready MVP.

Problem

People wanted an easier way to prioritize and track real connection with friends and family, but existing apps in the space (like Fabriq) were more complex than most people needed.

What I did

  • Researched the social-connection app space, including competitor Fabriq, and chose a simpler direction focused on total connection — people and time — over complex features
  • Used shared docs with the founder to turn user stories into an MVP feature set: login, a daily connection-time goal based on the 2-hour scientific recommendation, simple tracking graphs, and a journaling feature — deliberately cutting quality ratings and complex group logic
  • Ran two rounds of user-flow wireframes, elevating “Add connection” to the primary action and journals to their own tab based on feedback
  • Solved for time and connection data visualization across weeks, months, and years using native iOS components to keep development efficient
  • Validated the design with six pre-screened users via Playbook UX, surfacing a learning-curve issue that shaped a new onboarding flow
  • Built out hi-fi screens using the shared Remadely design library for consistency and speed

Outcome

A validated, launch-ready MVP that keeps the core value — real connection — simple, with onboarding added directly in response to user testing.
